invitetion to the first piratical festival in Mich

Wednesday, August 15, 2007, 12:48 PM CST [General]

ok Mags sent this out so I am relaing the info

Ahoy fellow privateers, pirates, buccaneers, corsairs, scallywags,
and any other nefarious braggarts roamin' bout these parts!
You are hereby cordially invited to the first piratical festival in
any part of Michigan thus far. Many festivals have weekend themes but
this channel is ...all pirates all the time. Anything nautical goes
mates. It is our endeavor to host this event annually so please come
    help us celebrate.

Let us discuss particulars first and foremost:
Saturday August 25th and Sunday August 26th
Festivities commence at Noon and go until the wee hours of the morning
Our playground will be Pier Marquette Beach &
    Captain Jacks Bar & Grill
    1601 Beach Street
    Muskegon, MI 49441

The benefits of being a pirate and hanging with our motley crew
(a.k.a. playing the part and interacting with patrons):
1.) Sign the crew roster at the pub and receive one free meal and two
    free drinks!
2.) Ride the ferry for free - dress as a pirate and entertain the
passengers and get across the lake for nada!

Here's the plot/storyline/ skinny/summary to be repeated on the
    second
    day:
The nasty militia aka the colonials have commandeered the pub named
owned and operated by Captain Jack. As a fellow pub owner, privateer,
rum connoisseur, and Admiral of the Black, Captain Morgan Ramirez has
rallied the Brethren of the Great Lakes to return what was taken from
Captain Jack. Pirates mill about on the beach plotting and planning
in and around the pub but do nothing. We will gather on the beach at
1:30pm and come up over the hill at 2pm guns and swords drawn when
the attack commences. Cannon and musket fire abound. Sword fights,
brawling, and shouts of melee as we turn the tables and surround the
militia throwing them into the brig. Jack's gift from the pirates
will be the keys to the Brig and a grand shipment of rum which we
    will drink in mass quantities.

Essentially this is a weekend long party on the beach. We'll have
cider, rum, and a few other things at the bar especially for the
    pirates.

    In addition, we'll have:
•Merchants booths (if interested let us know - $75.00 for whole
weekend payable to DMK Productions - no tent needed)
•Additional kitchens aka food booths for extra food
•A small regiment of English Militia re-enactors with an encampment
and firing cannon who will be playing with us
    •Children's Area 10am to 6pm each day
•A Jail to throw yer mates in for a nominal fee of course
    •Miller Beer Girls on Saturday
•Various competitions throughout the weekend - in fact stay tuned for
the results of the volleyball tourney at 4pm between the pirates and
    militia
    •Treasure Hunt on Saturday
•Musical Performances by special guests of the pirates and various
other forms of entertainment will take place

This be the first, but not the last time such a large number of
pirates are invading Muskegon. Unfurl yer sails, grab yer cutless,
and join the Great Lakes Brethren for an entire weekend of piratical
    fun!!!

Ferry Information - Lake Express Ferry 231-755-0308:
You must arrange for your own booking of the ferry ride folks and it
must be in advance not last second stuff. Pirate passengers may
indeed ride for free but 5-10 at a time only. The only catch is that
you must interact with the other passengers and follow the rules of
reason. The ferry is about 5 minutes from Pier Marquette and we can
arrange shuttle services from the ferry to the pub. If you absolutely
must have your car - fees will remain the same about $120.00 per
vehicle. Please let us know when you book your trip so we can arrange
the shuttle if needed or know when to expect you. Admiral Morgan can
fit only so many pirates into the HHR dinghy at once! We can
fly the Jolly Roger from aboard the Ferry as well.
If you do not book by this date it cannot
    happen folks. This is imperative.

    Hotels in the area:

There are plenty but none of which are offering an amazing deal. I am
working on it and will follow up tomorrow if I find any better. The
best price I have thus far is 55.49 a night for a single bed and
61.04 for a double bed that is out the door with tax and everything.
20 doubles and 13 singles are available for the 24th and the 25th. If
we book more than 5 rooms the rates will drop to at least 44.99 and
    49.99 respectively.
